About this Record
Telegraph Avenue was one of the pivotal acts in the vibrant Peruvian psych-rock and garage movement of the early 1970s. Formed in Lima by musicians including Bo Ichikawa, Jerry Nathanson, and Walo Luján, the group took their moniker and West Coast counterculture inspirations from Berkeley’s famed Telegraph Avenue.
Released on the legendary Peruvian imprint MAG (manufactured by SICA Peruana S.A.), this rare 1971 7-inch single captures their signature blend of raw garage fuzz, Latin grooves, and melodic psychedelic folk-rock. Side A features the uptempo rock groove ‘Something Going’ penned by Nathanson, while Side B delivers ‘Sometimes In Winter’, credited to Luján, showcasing the band’s atmospheric acoustic-driven psych sensitivity. Complete with its original company MAG sleeve, this 45 is a prime artifact of South American crate-digging gold.

「YouTubeで聴いてみたら、なんだかフリッパーズ・ギター風味の音楽でした。」
(Wife’s thought: I gave it a listen on YouTube, and to my surprise, it actually sounds quite a bit like Flipper’s Guitar.)
