About this Record
Released in Brazil in 1975 on CBS, this rare 7-inch EP (compacto duplo) introduces Grupo Candombe, a charming mid-70s Brazilian vocal pop and soft rock ensemble. Produced under the artistic direction of Walter D’Avila Filho and featuring sleeve photography by Armando Canuto, the four-track mini-album captures the eclectic blend of melodic Latin pop, upbeat Brazilian rhythms, and 70s harmony vocals characteristic of the era’s CBS Brazil roster.
Featuring compositions penned by band members Beto and Julinho alongside Santiago Elizalde, the EP spans breezy sunshine pop with English and Portuguese lyrics to emotional romantic Latin ballads. Housed in a full-color picture sleeve, original Brazilian pressings of this 1975 release remain elusive digging finds for collectors of obscure Latin pop and South American harmony groups.
