About this Record
An exquisite slice of late-1960s UK sunshine pop, this 1968 7-inch single by The Morgan-James on Philips (BF 1707) is a prized find for British pop aficionados. The A-side features a sparkling rendition of “Let’s Ride,” penned by the legendary American songwriting duo Paul Williams and Roger Nichols (famed for classics recorded by The Carpenters and Roger Nichols & The Small Circle of Friends). The lush orchestrations are courtesy of esteemed British composer and arranger Wally Stott (who later transitioned and gained worldwide acclaim as Angela Morley).
Backed with the breezy, melodic B-side “After The Storm,” composed by Morgan and James themselves, this single embodies the sophisticated, baroque-tinged vocal pop sound championed by UK labels in the late ’60s. Pressed with classic dark blue Philips labels and featuring the iconic three-prong push-out center, this original UK mono issue remains in its authentic vintage company sleeve.

「これさ、風合いがあっていいよね。当時の人が新しく発売されたのを大事に抱えて家まで持って帰ったのが目に浮かんで。ずっと大事にとってあったってことだよね。」
(Wife’s thought: The paper sleeve has such a lovely vintage texture. Looking at it, I can vividly picture someone back in 1968 buying it brand new and clutching it dearly all the way home. It must have been truly cherished all these years.)
