About this Record
When My Heart Rings is a delightful slice of shimmering neo-acoustic indie pop by the cult British outfit Explained Emma (formed by songwriters Neil Higgins and Mark Dackombe). Originally operating in the golden era of late-80s/early-90s UK guitar pop reminiscent of Sarah Records and The Bodines, the band found renewed international acclaim during the 2000s indie pop resurgence.
Released in 2008 as a joint effort between Kobe-based Japanese boutique tastemaker Fastcut Records (FCEP 002) and Germany’s renowned archival/indie pop label Firestation Records (FST077), this 7-inch 45 RPM single showcases the duo’s gift for crystalline guitar jangle, breezy melodies, and melancholic romanticism. Pressed in limited numbers, it has become a cherished gem among indie pop and neo-acoustic collectors worldwide.

(Wife’s thought: ¥1,350… individually it feels cheap, but “dust piles up to make a mountain”—and so does his collection.)
