About this Record
Released in late 1967 on A&M Records, this enchanting 7-inch single captures the delicate charm of French-born singer and actress Claudine Longet at the peak of the late-1960s soft pop / sunshine pop era. The A-side features “I Don’t Intend to Spend Christmas Without You,” composed by cult sunshine-pop icon Margo Guryan. Produced by legendary producer Tommy LiPuma and exquisitely arranged by Nick DeCaro, Longet’s signature whispery, breathy vocals blend effortlessly with lush strings, shimmering bells, and warm brass.
The B-side, “Snow,” is a tender rendition of Randy Newman’s melancholy masterpiece, displaying a subtly wistful and sophisticated winter palette. Housed in a vintage generic paper sleeve, this original US pressing on A&M’s classic ochre label remains a highly sought-after 45 for soft-rock and seasonal crate diggers worldwide.
