About this Record
Dub Master X (Izumi “DMX” Miyazaki) is a pioneering figure in the Japanese club, dub, and remix scenes. Renowned as one of Tokyo’s most influential sound engineers, producers, and live dub mixmasters, his work bridged early Japanese hip-hop, dub reggae, and the exploding mid-90s UK breakbeat/jungle sounds.
Released in 1995 on his own imprint DMX International in association with Nut-Meg Records, Dub Wa Self Remix Vol.1 (catalog DX-001) is a seminal 12-inch club single cut at 45 RPM. The B-side, featured prominently here, is the heavy-bass dancefloor weapon “Jungle Train (Adapted?)”, reflecting the mid-90s shift toward jungle/drum & bass rhythms filtered through Miyazaki’s distinct, spaced-out Japanese dub aesthetic.

「800円かあ。ポケモンカード買うわ。」
(Wife’s thought: Around 800 yen, huh? Honestly, I’d rather buy a pack of Pokémon cards.)
