Karen Brian – Mornin’ I’ll Be Movin’ On / Love Me Not Tomorrow (1969 7″ Single)

About this Record

An exquisite piece of late-1960s West Coast sunshine pop and soft rock history, this 1969 white-label promo 7-inch by Karen Brian showcases the legendary A&M Records / Almo Productions creative brain trust at its peak. Produced by the incomparable Roger Nichols and arranged by maestro Nick DeCaro, both sides are prime examples of the lush, sophisticated melodic pop that defined California’s studio sound in the era.

The A-side, “Mornin’ I’ll Be Movin’ On”, was penned by the celebrated songwriting duo of Roger Nichols and Paul Williams. The flip side, “Love Me Not Tomorrow”, features a composition by renowned singer-songwriter John Stewart (of The Kingston Trio and later “Gold” fame). Housed in a vintage A&M concentric-logo factory sleeve, this promo copy is a prized artifact for fans of the Roger Nichols & The Small Circle of Friends orbit, Nick DeCaro productions, and collectors of rare soft pop 45s.

(Wife’s thought: You can only find the Paul Williams version on YouTube, yet somehow this rare Karen Brian promo is sitting right here in my room. He really cannot get enough of Roger Nichols… Seriously, how many more of his records am I going to find invading my space?)
