About this Record
Released in 1969 on SGC Records (Screen Gems-Columbia, distributed by Atlantic-ATCO), Jeannine captures legendary singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka during a transitional, late-1960s chapter of his career. Co-written with his longtime lyricist partner Howard Greenfield and featuring string and horn arrangements by Irving Spice, this 7″ single showcases Sedaka’s trademark melodic sophistication set against lush, late-’60s sunshine pop and baroque-pop orchestration.
This particular US pressing bears the monarch suffix -MO on the label matrix (SGC-16848-MO) and comes housed in a vintage Atlantic-ATCO Group company paper sleeve. A great artifact for Brill Building and late-60s pop crate diggers.

「夫が好きそうな、いかにもな曲だなあ。哀愁たっぷりでドラマチックなメロディを聴いていると、なんだか日本の演歌を聴いているような気分になってきます。」
(Wife’s thought: Yep, this is totally the kind of track my husband would love. With all that dramatic melancholy, it honestly almost sounds like Japanese enka to my ears.)
