About this Record
Magia Magia is the acclaimed full-length album by Rio de Janeiro singer-songwriter, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist Gus Levy. Emerging from Rio’s vibrant contemporary indie and modern MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) scene, Levy crafts sun-drenched melodies, lush guitar arrangements, and introspective tropical psych-pop harmonies reminiscent of 1970s Brazilian masters like Arthur Verocai, Marcos Valle, and Clube da Esquina, blended seamlessly with contemporary indie aesthetics.
The album features notable appearances from fellow Rio vanguard luminaries, including Ana Frango Elétrico and Raquel Dimantas on chorus, Marcelo Costa on drums and percussion, Pedro Dantas on bass, and elegant orchestral textures from Quarteto Cais arranged by Rudah Guedes. This limited vinyl edition was produced and manufactured as a collaborative release between French boutique reissue label 180g and Japan’s revered retail and distribution imprint Disk Union (Cat. # 180GDULP05 / 180GDULP05CL), pressed on exclusive colored vinyl.

「また下北沢のディスクユニオン行ったでしょ。ジャケデザは素晴らしいけれども。」
(Wife’s thought: Went to Disk Union in Shimokitazawa again, didn’t you? Well, I have to admit the cover design is fantastic, though.)
